Information for Artists

ArtsOptions acts as an 'art agent'. We regard Artists and Designer-Makers as our suppliers and Clients as our customers. There is a Preliminary Agreement / Image Receipt to sign which gives us permission to use your images to promote your work. Then there is a Consignment Contract to sign with ArtsOptions when work is selected by a client for purchase or hire. We do not act as exclusive agents or own the work, and Artists are free to exhibit or sell work elsewhere (except work actually on hire, of course), provided ArtsOptions is kept informed about availability of work.

ArtsOptions offers clients options to buy or hire work. The key feature of our service is that there is no cost to the Artist other than providing good quality photos/digital images of work for our Portfolio and delivering the work to ArtsOptions packaged and ready for display (i.e with frames, fixings, plinths or display cases as appropriate) when required by a client. When sold, the Artist will receive their price for the work, without the deduction of commission and VAT. Where work is hired, the Artist will receive a fee for the 'use of the work' - normally up to 10% of the Artist's Price - better than storing it for no return and better than bank interest on the money!

ArtsOptions will insure work whilst in transit, hanging and take-down and will normally use experienced technical staff. Clients will insure the work whilst it is in their care.

When pricing work, Artists should consider their time and materials costs of producing the work and the display materials (frame, fixings, plinth, case), transport, insurance, admin. Artists must also not over-price their work as ArtsOptions will be adding on a mark-up +VAT to the client (just like any retail shop or service, except private galleries which take commission & VAT off the artist's price!)

Artists interested in having their work in the Portfolio are invited to contact us. Our General Terms and Conditions for Artists and Sample Contract documents for artists are available on request. Up to ten good quality images may be sent by post as photographic prints or on CD, or by email as low resolution ".jpgs" or similar, together with a CV, relevant information about the work, eg. influences, techniques, etc. and a completed Preliminary Agreement and Image Receipt.
