News: Art and The Office As most of us spend a large part of our lives at work, it makes sense that employers should want employees to find it as positive an experience as possible, every working day. Nobody wants to sit all day in uncomfortable chairs or stare at boring walls. No customer wants to walk into a dull and unwelcoming reception. Last summer Margo Ladell Pigott of ArtsOptions, an art-for-offices consultancy, was introduced to office interior specialist Patrick Lewis of Source One Consulting. Quickly they realised their businesses share the same objectives and found they had each worked independently for the same client, Kester Cunningham John. Patrick had realised that contemporary office design and furniture help to attract and retain staff and make them feel more valued as well as creating a good impression of a successful forward-looking business that clients would want to work with. Margo had realised that contemporary art, whether 2D paintings, artists' prints, photographs, digital work, or 3D sculpture, or unique designer-made ceramics, wood or glass items, when carefully selected to suit the client's business objectives and surroundings, can actually work for the business, as part of the PR and HR programmes. Realising how their services complement each other in creating exciting office environments, they decided to share a stand at the ISSBA Trade Fair in Ipswich on 27 April to promote their ideas and services.
